Home Made Plain Yoghurt

Instead of buying yogurt from your local supermarket try this easy and tasty home made plain yogurt.

Total Time:
Makes: 1,25 litres
Ingredients
  • 1,2 litres UHT (long-life) milk

  • 150 ml plain live yoghurt

  • 25 ml dried milk powder OR

  • 25 ml non-fat dry milk powder

Method
  1. Warm the milk until hand-hot

  2. Blend the milk powder with the yoghurt in a bowl

  3. Gradually whisk in the milk

  4. Cover loosely with clingfilm (plastic wrap) and wrap in thick towels

  5. Place in a warm place such as the airing cupboard for 2—8 hours until set

  6. Alternatively, pour the milk and yoghurt mixture into warmed, wide-necked vacuum flasks and screw on the lids

  7. Leave undisturbed until set

  8. Store in airtight containers in the fridge

  9. Serve plain, with honey or fresh fruit.
