Chicken à la King 

This easy chicken à la king recipe will allow you to prepare a delicious dinner – which can be served with rice and perhaps a fresh side salad – in no time at all.

  1. In a pan on a medium heat, add butter and a little oil and cook the onions, peppers and mushrooms until soft

  2. Add the flour and cook for a minute or two stirring constantly

  3. Remove from the heat, add the milk slowly and stir constantly, add the stock, bring to the boil and stir until smooth and quite thick

  4. Add the poached chicken and cream and season with salt and pepper and finally, if you want the sauce really rich add the sherry and combine it all

  5. Served over rice or pasta.
